" Diane Bloom of Bloom Gardens designed our garden in San Francisco several years ago. It was a lush and beautiful spot and greatly increased the value of our home. We have asked Diane to design our garden in Oakland and are in the midst of the project. Diane has helped to resolve drainage problems on our lot and has wonderful ideas for hardscaping, design and planting. She is familiar with plants and their specific requirements. Diane is a pleasure to work with as she involves the client in the design process and is very open to ideas. Her crew is competent, reliable and very pleasant. I always look forward to a day in the garden when Diane and her crew are around.

" Diane and her crew, and her wonderful foreman—a sweet and sensible man of many talents (especially building wonderful stone walls) and much creativity, took my project in hand, argued with me only a little, inspired me quite a lot, and helped me transform my inhospitable, fox-tail-filled hillside into an evolving sanctuary for man, woman, and beast. I think that she would have liked for me to say pure native, which I didn’t, but that was ok. When I killed her favorite plants, or yanked them out because I decided I didn’t like the color of their blossoms, she smiled and proposed alternatives. Every day my delight with my “Bloom Garden” grows, as the beast population (quail, a spotted towhee, tree frogs, even wild turkeys) takes up residence on my formerly barren hillside.

" Diane Bloom came to our ivy-covered backyard woodland in Montclair five years ago and worked magic for us. She understood what we wanted to do, even if we could not clearly express all our needs. She gave us mostly natives at our request, but included other plants as needed. She recycled old pavers to create what she named "our stairway to heaven" where she created 6 raised beds at the top of our hill for my need to plant organic vegetables. She created a charming shade garden patio outside of our back door and a "meadow-rock path" out our bedroom windows. We continue to enjoy her work today. Thanks, Diane!

" I knew I could work with Diane the first day I met her because she is a communicator. She listened to my definite ideas about what I wanted in my garden and then made suggestions based upon her extensive knowledge of design and plants. She was easy to work with throughout the project as we worked together to create a beautiful and peaceful garden. Her crew that executed the work was prompt, talented and worked hard. Diane has also followed up on any concerns I’ve had since the job was complete. I would gladly hire Diane again for any future projects!"

" We began our back-yard project talking to designers who presented their version of what /they/ wanted. Then came Diane who helped us figure out what /we/ wanted. With patience and humor she put up with our dithering and drew out of us the vision we hadn't been able to articulate. Then she made it all happen! Now her crew keeps it all looking great. Thanks, Diane.

" We really valued that breadth of skills and experiences that the Bloom Gardens team brought to our project. They were able to handle all aspects of our project – whether it was design and planting recommendations or fence and rock wall construction, Diane and her reliable crews made sure the work was done efficiently and with a high degree of quality. We are very happy with the results and recommend Bloom Gardens."

"Diane Bloom of Bloom Gardens came up with a brilliant concept to transform my small yard into an expansive outdoor space. Her extensive knowledge of plants created a paradise with exactly the mood I was looking for. I especially love that she created different areas in the garden to sit which also gives the illusion of a larger yard. Her crew does excellent work and is also wonderful to work with. I highly recommend Bloom Gardens."
